Harlem Globetrotters Fly High in Penticton

By Jordan Shade

Thursday evening the South Okanagan was treated to some hilarious
basketball provided by the world famous Harlem Globetrotters team.

The Harlem Globetrotters are an American exhibition basketball team.
They combine athleticism, theatre, and comedy in their style of play.

Over the years, they have played more than 26,000 exhibition games in
124 countries and territories. This was their second time inside the
SOEC arena. The last time they were here was the end of February in

Two teams played, the Globetrotters versus the Washington Generals,
the worst team since 1971.

But the Generals are always willing to try and overcome the odds to
try to beat the most winning-est team to this very day.

Just like basketball, four quarters were played and the team with the
most points won the game.

Lots of high flying dunks, jams and through the legs tricks were
performed Thursday night.

This gave children from ages 5 up in attendance the dream to pursue
the game of basketball and a chance to meet some of the players to ask
them questions on how they got their start in the popular sport.
